"So, see. You have helped me. Thank you. Calvin"

Ergo, mission accomplised.

BTW, 'help' doesn't necessarily have to be 'friendly'.

Use of the term "Copyright infringement" is intended to have a big effect on anyone - newbie or not. You might however choose to view the phrase as 'friendly' when it comes from the owner of the material as opposed to their lawyers. :-)

Cheers,

Rosalind,
You are correct, yet again. As I stated this is a relatively brand new blog, and I am still in the process of setting things up. I will be adding a contact page right now.

Of course the title to this blog is absurd! Yes, it was done for shock value! I am glad that a marketer of your talent was capable of recognizing that, and not accepting it as being "true".

Just as using your RSS feed without permission was a mistake, so was posting your email along with your comment in my post. It has now been removed. There was no evil intent, or attempt to make your life miserable. I am actually surpised that anybody other than you saw it.

The blog software automatically handles that part when posting the comment. I copied your comment from my administration panel, since that is where I was at the time, and my "select all" grabbed your email address by mistake.

I assume that since you did not specifically ask me to remove it, you are fine with me leaving the link to your blog in my post?

I am always open to helpful advice, but what you gave was not helpful advice. It was a comment intended to intimidate me into not using your content without permission.

It was not a helpful, friendly reminder that I am new, and I have made a newbie mistake.

You may have intended it as such, I will at least give you the benefit of the doubt.

But I personally take copyright infringement very seriously, and when you use that phrase, it stoped being friendly advice in my eyes, and became a veiled threat of legal action.

Of course I am using this situation to try and generate some interest in my blog and websites, but I am not manufacturing or making up anything.

I honestly feel that you could have communicated your help differently if you were actually intending to help.

Again, the phrase "copyright infringement" is a loaded phrase, and I take it very seriously.

And I don't understand what you mean by me "crapping on you".

At most, I am only trying to hold you to a higher standard.

I can understand how that might feel like I am crapping on you. I am sorry.

But I am a smart-ass at heart, and the phrase "copyright infringement" just set me off.

As for content duplication, I have read things on both sides of the issue, all of it from well-respected "guru" types.

I am of the camp that "duplicate content" is less of a concern than you might think.

Which, is now a moot point anyway as far as this blog is concerned.

You said you were just trying to help.

Well, regardless of how we got there, you did accomplish that task.

Because of your initial comment, I have stopped using the RSS feed aggregator, and will only be posting original content to this blog. (save for maybe a youtube video now and then)

Plus, I will forever onward double check that I have the right to use any content I use, regardless of where I get it from.

So, see. You have helped me.

Thank you.

Calvin,

Leaving a comment is much more effective for getting attention than email. Besides, I don't see a "Contact" or "Support" link on this page and because standard practice is to include that link in navigation, I didn't bother to search any farther afield.

You make a mighty big assumption in the title of this post, which I guess was done for shock value. Whatever, the statement is completely absurd.

However, you've NOW published my email address within the content of this post - something which you state you will NOT do. Check the line beside the addy form under Leave a Reply which reads "Mail (will not be published) (required)".

So, "Please Calvin, will you remove my email address from this post".

Sheesh. Try to give someone some helpful advice and they crap on you. Thanks for the spam.

Rosalind

P.S. You might want to research the ill effects of content duplication on your Google rankings.

Re-posting all of the content from my blog is NOT the same as posting 'little updates'.. it's copyright infringement.

Scheme doesn't have a negative connotation in association with affiliate - search affiliate scheme on Google.

The sticker is just a statement for anybody that brings their laptop to conferences and gets into putting stickers on it.

Thanks Shawn!

That's the first time anything I have done has been called a scheme.

Actually, I think it is a good idea for people who want to show their concern for the environment.

Not that I am NOT concerned, but a free sticker on my laptop wouldn't really do anything, since I am the only person who ever sees my laptop.

I guess it would remind me that I am contributing to Global Greening, but I can kind of remember that myself.

I love your site. Keep up the great work.

Good luck with your scheme here.

I couldn't get the RSS feeds to work out just the way I wanted, so instead of spending any more time trying to get them to work, I will just read the latest affiliate marketing news each day and post little updates letting you know about the most important stuff.
